"The Monkey" (Capricorn)

Clarinet, Violin, and Piano

One of my most lighthearted compositions, "The Monkey" is also my most performed and recorded piece of chamber music. The next URL is a link to a video of the world premiere performance of "Zodiac: Across the Universe" which took place at the Yantai Grand Theater in Yantai, China, as part of a ten-concert China Tour of which "The Monkey" constitutes one of twelve movements. My piece occurs at time index 6:53.
"Zodiac: Across the Universe" was a special project the brought together twelve composers, each contributing a one-minute movement. The composers were selected from a pool of close to a hundred submissions, following a call for score by the Zodiac Trio. The winning compositions were then brought together to form a twelve-movement work that was premiered in China in November of 2013, and performed as part of the Zodiac Trio's touring program.

The Zodiac Trio subsequently recorded "Zodiac: Across the Universe" on a CD titled "Dreamtime" which was recorded on the Blue Griffin Recording label in 2015, and which also included music by composers Richard Danielpour, Andrew Liszt, and John Mackey, and was released in January 2016 under the catalog number BGR 391.
