Instrumental Solo Composition of the Day, Installment 5:
"Chromatic Prelude After Bach" -
Clavichord or Harpsichord (or any Keyboard Instrument) -
2023
"Chromatic Prelude After Bach" was composed and chosen for a call for scores from the Fifteen Minutes of Fame Series of Composer's Voice from Vox and its fearless leader and tireless advocate for new music, Robert Voisey. This brief composition is based loosely on the "Prelude in C Minor" from the Well-tempered Clavier by J. S. Bach.
The harmonies of this work had actually been on my mind for years. I was waiting for a harpsichord opportunity to arise, but this opportunity for clavichord gave me a reason to commit it to paper. Although the piece is not listed for any other keyboard instrument such as piano or organ manuals, it will certainly work for them.
