"Enigmatic Gavotte"

I had long wanted to endeavor composing music based on Olivier Messiaen's modes of limited transposition to see what would happen when my musical style meets his musical language. Two 2024 calls for scores gave me two reasons to do so.
"Enigmatic Gavotte" was composed for a call for scores for one-minute pieces for guitar solo from Christopher Schoelen and the Fifteen Minutes of Fame Series of Composer's Voice/Vox Novus. This became a study for a longer piece, "Enigmatic Dance Suite" for vibraphone solo was composed for a call from scores from The Vibraphone Project; the winner(s) should be announced within the next week, so I will discuss this title at a later date.
